Indie retailer wins top award

Keen Computers beat Tiscali, Virgin.net and Tesco to win Best Consumer Host at the ISPA awards.
Anthony Knee, owner of Keen computers and regular commentator in PC Retail magazine was proud to beat a number of internet giants in winning Best Consumer Host.
Speaking to PC Retail, Knee was initially overwhelmed. "
Having composed himself, Knee explained why he thought his company was chosen over its much higher profile competitors. "The difference between expectation and delivery is huge," he said.
"Companies like mine can exceed customer expectations, but many big companies are bluffing. They create such huge expectations with their fluff and spin that the customer will almost always be disappointed. This award, like the Which? report on repairs, shows that once again that the indies are best."

An ISPA spokesperson said, "As the demand for hosting grows, ISPs must be able to respond with the space consumers need and the flexibility to accommodate consumers' hosting needs. The judges felt that Keen Computers was seriously addressing consumers' hosting needs, offering a solid hosting package."
The ISP arm of distributor Enta Technologies – Entanet – was nominated in the consumer broadband, business broadband, business ISP, business email and internet telephony categories, but didn't win any of them.
"I was so disappointed that Enta didn't win anything," said Knee. "They have a really good product which your readers can resell. It goes well with what Keen Computers can provide.
