New MD for Overclockers UK

Specialist online retailer appoints Ruper Lowery to the point, replacing Mark Proudfoot

Specialist-enthusiast retailer Overclockers UK has appointed a new managing director after the departure of Mark Proudfoot.

Ruper Lowery will replace him as the company's managing director. Lowery, who was most recently chief executive of the TheHut.com, also is known for his success in the retail, banking and technology industries, with Sainsbury's, Lloyds TSB, Halifax PLC, Caudwell Communications, the state-owned Irish Post Office and the Alphyra Group.

Electronics trade body Retra has also appointed a new president, Peter Mann.

He has pledged to communicate more with members, manufacturers as well as other trade bodies.

"We need to ensure we do all we can to secure the future success of independent electrical retailers throughout the UK," said Mann. By working closely with the new chief executive Bryan Lovewell and the team at Retra, I hope to help make the association even more widely known than it is today."

Really a good idea for Proudfoot to step aside. He had made way too many enemies with his all to well known prejudices.

How unfortunate the new MD is no better than the previous. Overclockers took one year to refund me 100 and even so did it bad-spirit. I rang up only today to put through a 800 order, I found a case that was cheaper by 15 somewhere else and I was told by the girl very rudely that she would not price match. After asking her if she was prepared to loose a 800 sale over 15 she said yes.
What a great way to run the business Rupert.
No customer service here, avoid them like the plague.

OCUK are a nasty bunch of bigoted racists, I urge people to buy gear at better places like, ebuyer, scan, dabs ..etc ..etc

The racist and homophobic posts on the forums is utterly disgusting tbh.
