Sub $200 linux-based PC sells out at Walmart

US consumers clear shelves of budget Everex computer at world's largest supermarket chain

The Everex TC2502 hit shelves holding the title of first sub $200 Linux desktop ever, but now shelves are empty. US Supermarket Wal-Mart have sold out of the low-spec machine, which comes in the form of a hard drive, no monitor included.

Sales have been put down to curiosity of the 'unusual' Linux operating system, which is dubbed Enlightenment- a cut down version of Ubuntu.

The GUI, according to TheInquirer, is lighter than Gnome or KDE and faster than Vista.

The system has received excellent reviews and thus has been selling at rapid pace to those who only need a PC for the internet and OpenOffice.
