AMD blames buffer bug for delay, but promises to show quad core models at CeBIT
AMD's upcoming quad-core Phenom 9700 CPU has been delayed, due to a translation look aside buffer bug. The processor is now due to be launched in the second quarter of 2008.
Despite this, AMD still plan to showcase the CPU at CeBIT (March 4th – 9th) alongside the 9900 and 9100e models, according to sources speaking to Digitimes.
The sources state that AMD is confident that it has solved the bug in the B3 stepping revision, yet the sources are unclear if the CeBIT show will mark the official launch of the products.

Please note, AMD Phenom™ 9500 and AMD Phenom™ 9600 Black Edition have been shipping since December last year. The AMD Phenom™ 9500 is aimed at the high end mainstream and delivers true Quad core at a traditional Dual core price point while the faster Phenom 9600 allows user clock multiplier control when coupled with an AM2+ mother board featuring AMD OverDrive™ and is a growing favorite with the enthusiast community.
