Irish assembler IQon goes into liquidation after investor is spooked by Dell retail deals

Irish PC assembler IQon Technologies has become the first causality of Dell's move into retail, entering liquidation after failing to find a buyer.

The firm, which entered examinership – the Irish equivalent of administration – in November last year blamed the former direct sales vendor's move into retail for spooking potential investors.

It had been reported that the firm was in discussions with an anonymous French investor.

Speaking to CRN, senior accountant at examiner firm Michael McAteer, Nigel O'Keeff said: "In the end, the investor became wary of market competition. The announcement before Christmas that Dell will be supplying to Tesco did not help."
