Intel says miniaturised Core 2 Duo CPU will be appearing in rival Windows systems

Chip making giant Intel has reportedly sold a version of its cut-size 65nm Core 2 Duo CPU found in Apple’s recently launched ultra-thin laptop the MacBook Air to two rival manufacturers.

InformationWeek
reports that two PC firms have already signed up to use the custom-designed chip, and quotes an Intel spokesperson as saying: "If other OEMs are interested in this 65-nanometer Core 2 Duo processor, we are welcome to talk with them.”

It had been believed that the CPU had been exclusively designed for Apple’s new machine.
