Government to urge ISPs to implement three-strike policy
Consumers who illegal download games will be cut off from the internet under new Government proposals.
Internet Service Providers will be required to adopt a three-strike system. An email warning will be sent the first time a user illegally download copyrighted media files, whilst the second infringement will result in a suspension.
For a third offence, the ISP will terminate the user’s contract.
Broadband companies who fail to enforce the regime will be prosecuted.

How are ISPs expected to Police this?
What with more and more inventive ways for people to break files down into smaller packets and then distribute them how will they know what does and doesn't breach copyright rules?
It sounds like pointless reactive policies that will simply end up making ordinary people suffer while wholesale piracy will continue as normal in High Streets and Retail Park car parks up and down the country.

it's a good way to get out of your contract if you wanted to though.

Surley this is about poor musicans most of whom have not made a decent album in years trying to scrape together every cent. I brought more than 20 Andre Rieu DVd,s on the net most expensive less than the price of a cd un the uk but via USA, shipped from same warehouse as if brought via europe but much much cheaper, stop ripping us off. Also what about older music no longer in copyright how can an isp check the age of the music surely this is typical if a sad society - my car gets broken into an nothing happens i loose over 1k of kit lets get priorites right

And what about out civil freedoms? Freedom of choice? The freedom to make decisions for ourselves over what we think is morally right or wrong?
