Microsoft bid would be "an operation without sense"

Logitech's chairman has dismissed rumours that Microsoft is planning to launch a takeover big for the company as "an operation without sense."

Guerrino De Luca, who was speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera on Sunday, told the paper, that the company's shares had "only rose for a day," after analysts dismissed suggestions of an $8 billion move by the Redmond-based firm for its peripherals rival.

"I reiterate, without competition Logitech would lose the great pressure to innovate," he added.

"Moreover there would be problems from antitrust authorities seeing as the two companies together would have a virtual global monopoly in mice and keyboards."
