Gem, Enta and John Lewis win big at PC trade awards

PC Retail Awards 08: Entire industry gathers at Caf� Royal for hugely successful night
Over 300 dealers, distributors and suppliers celebrated the first ever trade awards dedicated to the computer retail channel last night.
Gem was the star of the show, picking up the prestigious Grand Prix prize in recognition of the distributor’s outstanding achievements and new initiatives over the past year.
Entatech also stood out - taking home two awards for Sales Innovation and Sales Team: Business. Fellow distributors XMA and VIP were also acknowledged, winning the Marketing and PR Team and Sales Team: Home awards respectively, while Target took home the Specialist Distributor prize.
Retail wise, YoYoTech won best High Street Independent, while after a hugely successful period John Lewis was presented with the High Street Multiple Award. Elsewhere, Overclockers.co.uk took the online retailer prize.
Successful vendors such as Antec, AMD and Symantec were also rewarded with prestigious titles.
“It was a tremendous night. Huge thanks must go to the trade for supporting this new tightly-targeted and affordable awards event. Every major computing and technology buyer was in the room and there was a real sense of community,” commented PC Retail publisher and Intent Media boss Stuart Dinsey.
“Well done to the winners. They have won because the trade voted for them, so they should be very, very proud of their achievements.”

Some sponsors won, many sponsors didn't. Due to the economics of the event, and our desire to keep ticket prices down so retailers could afford to attend, we had to have a lot of affordable sponsorship packages.
Sponsors that didn't win included Widget, Big Red Box, Realtime and Toshiba.
And the process is completely transparent. A judging panel from all sectors of the industry voted for the winners.
We will publish the full list of judges in the next issue of PC Retail. And if you really want to, you can contact them all and ask who they voted for.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and of course no one will agree with the merits of all winners.
But, please, accept the fact that the awards are run fairly and transparently.

Just like to say what a great night had by everyone that attended as everyone was a winner for just being there.
