China: Vendor looks to sign 1,000 retailers, resellers and distributors to spearhead plans

Dell has signalled that it intends to sign 1,000 partners for its Chinese channel plans, including a mix of retailers, resellers and distributors.

The country, which is Dell's second largest market, is key to the vendor's plans over the next couple of years and its channel operation will be at the heart of that according to Dell's president of Greater China, Min Yida.

It isn't abandoning its direct sales approach though and it has caused some concern among distributors and resellers that the firm may attempt to undercut them, but Yida moved quickly to assure potential partners that that wouldn't be the case.

Dell has said in the past that indirect sales would be important for success in China. However, this is the first time that the vendor has put a number to the amount of partners it expects to recruit in the country.
