USA: Retailer set to begin taking televisions, PCs and cameras

Best Buy is set to trial an expansion to its electronic recycling scheme to include larger electronics such as PCs, cameras and camcorders and televisions up 32-inches.

The retailer already recycled smaller items such as mobile phones, batteries and ink cartridges, but the trial will also take in some of the larger items that it sells.

However, it will not be recycling microwaves, air conditioners or other appliances.

The trial is currently taking place in 117 stores in the Baltimore, San Francisco and Minnesota areas. If it proves to be a success, the retailer expects to roll the programme out across the country.
