OS X increases market share 32 per cent

Apple OS gaining ground, however, Vista sees 256 per cent increase during same period

Apple has seen it's share of the operating system market jump by 32 per cent in the past year, as its market share edged ever closer to the elusive ten per cent mark.

OS X saw its market share hit 7.94 per cent according to the latest figures from Net Applications, up from the 6.03 per cent controlled at the same time last year. Vista saw an increase of 256 per cent during the same time period.


Vista and Linux also saw gains in June, mainly at the expense of Windows XP, with growth of eight  per cent and 18 per cent respectively. Their market share now stands at 16.4 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.

XP's market share dropped from 72.12 per cent to 71.2 per cent; meanwhile, Windows 2000 saw its share drop to just over two per cent consolidating its decline.
