Intel bullish about global PC demand

Microchip vendor sees no slowdown despite US economic woes
The worlds’ biggest processor manufacturer, Intel, does not expect to see a drop in global demand for PCs.
In a speech in Lisbon, Intel chairman Craig Barrett told Portuguese journalists that the company remained confident of continued demand for low cost computers and wireless internet systems.
Citing a number of countries that remained largely unaffected by the US credit crunch, he said that this was a hopeful sign that the economic effects would be limited.
“We gave a relatively upbeat business forecast, saying that despite the economic problems in the United States our business is so international that we didn't see any slowdown in the PC market,” said Barrett.
“We are seeing ... that the slowdown in the U.S. hasn't spilled everywhere else. The world's economy is not as robust as it could be, but it's not a disaster.”
