HIS warns on fake netbooks

Statement comes after limited number of devices comes onto the market

Specialist graphics vendors HIS has stressed that it currently has no plans to enter the netbook market, and that the limited numbers of products on the market bearing its name are fakes and as such, should be avoided.

According to the Hong Kong based firm, it became aware of the unauthorised units when various people began requesting samples.

In a statement to the press, HIS marketing direct Peter Yeung said: "We will defend our brand vigorously in all markets and all unauthorised usage of the HIS name or brand will result in swift legal action."

"Counterfeiting, copyright theft and piracy are very serious issues and HIS calls on the market to work together to help ensure that illegal practices are stamped out," he added.
