Leading industry figure steps down

Clive Bishop, known to all in the industry as CEO of the trade body for computer retailers - NASCR - has resigned, citing irreconcilable differences with the NASCR committee.

Bishop’s resignation ends a ten year tenure as the spokesman for specialist computer retailers during which he has strived to defend them from external threats such as supermarkets and mass merchandisers.

In his resignation statement, Bishop said: "I have, after almost ten years of being back with NASCR, tended my resignation and will be leaving on the 21st April. I unfortunately am unable to elaborate on my my reasons for such, only that I have been unable to accept a decision made by the committee which I so strongly feel is a direction which will not be in NASCR’s best interest and felt unable to continue. This has been a very long and arduous battle with the committee, but feel my conscience just wouldn’t allow me to stay."

Bishop is reluctant to elaborate on his reasons "at the risk of any damage to NASCR and it’s future" but some indication may be derived from his new email address: [email protected].
